<p><font size="2"><strong><span style="font-family: Arial">Lal Balkaran</span></strong><span style="font-family: Arial"> is a Certified General Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and holds an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School.</span></font></p>
<p><font size="2"><span style="font-family: Arial"></span></font><font size="2"><span style="font-family: Arial"><span style="font-family: Arial"><font size="2">He is currently a <strong>Senior Manager</strong> in Ernst and Young’s Risk Advisory Services with a focus on Internal Audit. <span> </span>He is perceived as a leading member of the internal audit profession and is often consulted by large organizations and other internal audit members of academe and practitioners. He has more than twenty five years of internal auditing experience obtained in a wide range of industries both in the private and public sectors. </font></span><span style="font-family: Arial"><font size="2">Mr. Balkaran wrote six reference books on business and related areas including the world’s first dictionary on auditing published by Lexis-Nexis Canada and an international directory on accounting and business certifications published by Wiley. He is also a prolific writer on his native Guyana and has published another six books on the country.</font></span></span></font></p>
<p><font size="2"><span style="font-family: Arial"><span style="font-family: Arial"></span></span></font><font size="2"><span style="font-family: Arial"></span></font><font size="2"><span style="font-family: Arial"><span style="font-family: Arial"><font size="2">Lal has had articles published widely across the globe including seven in the prestigious <em>Internal Auditor</em> magazine. In addition, he has done several internal audit and related workshops, seminars, and working luncheons in North America and the Caribbean. <span> </span>He contributed a chapter to Professor Jeff Ridley’s new book <em>Cutting Edge Internal Auditing</em> that was recently published by Wiley in the UK.</font></span><span style="font-family: Arial"><font size="2"><span style="font-family: Arial"><font size="2">Mr. Balkaran has been a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) for over 22 years and is a Past President and current Board Member of the IIA-Toronto. He also sits on the Board of Research and Education Advisors of IIA Global, <em>Internal Auditor</em> Editorial Advisory Board, and is an IIA-Toronto Honorary Member.  </font></span></font></span></span></font></p>
